BiographyMatteo Chinazzi is a Senior Research Scientist at the Laboratory for the Modeling of Biological and Socio-Technical Systems (MOBS Lab) and Part-time Faculty at Northeastern University. He holds a PhD in Economics from Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Italy), a M.Sc. in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University (Italy), and an undergraduate degree in Economics of International Markets and New Technologies from Bocconi University (Italy).
His research interests include: a) the development of computational and analytical models to study and forecast the spatial spread of infectious diseases; b) the development of agent-based models to create realistic representations of population dynamics; c) the study of human mobility and contact patterns using high-resolution large-scale de-identified location data; d) combining mechanistic epidemic models with machine learning/deep learning frameworks; and e) the study of the evolution and structure of science and innovation. Dr. Chinazzi is also the principal instructor of Phys7331 - “Network Science Data” and Phys7332 - “Network Science Data II”, he is a member of the council of the Complex Systems Society (CSS), and he is one of the co-founders of the association of Young Researchers of the Complex Systems (yrCSS, former YRNCS). publications |
